Basecamp Classic prices range from free to $149 per month. All paid plans offer file uploading and storage for files that ranges from 5GB to 75GB. Every plan includes as many users as you need.
Basecamp Classic plans and prices
Free: 1 project; 10 MB files
Basic ($29/month); 15 projects; 5 GB files
Plus ($59/month); 35 projects; 15 GB files
Premium ($119/month); 100 projects; 30 GB files
Max ($179/month); Unlimited projects; 75 GB files

Upgrade your plan
The account owner is the only person who can upgrade or downgrade the account.
Changing your plan is easy! Just click on the “Account” tab on the Dashboard and you’ll see your options in the chart near the top of the page.
You can upgrade from any level to any higher level at any time.
Upgrades and downgrades take effect immediately. The new monthly rate begins at the start of your next billing cycle.
Downgrade to a smaller paid plan
You can put your Classic account on a smaller plan at any time. From the account page, you'll see the plans you're eligible for according to your current account usage:
You can only downgrade to a lower plan if you have equal or fewer than the number of projects allowed for that plan. For example, if you have 7 active projects you can’t downgrade to the Free plan, which only allows for 1 active project.
To downgrade to a plan below yours, you need to either archive or delete some active projects.
Downgrade to a free plan
The free plan includes one project. So, if you'd like to move to this plan, you'll need to archive all your projects (minus one!).
To archive a project, click on the “Project Settings” link in the upper right corner of the screen.
Scroll down to the “Project Status” section, select the “Archived” radio button and click the “Save changes” button.
Next, choose to downgrade to the free plan on your Account tab.
Your account won’t be charged while it’s on the free plan, and when you’re ready to use Basecamp again, simply upgrade to a paying plan to access all your projects.

Discounts and tax exemptions
Non-profit discount
If you work for a nonprofit, we offer a 10% monthly nonprofit discount off the plan of your choice. We’ll just need to see some documentation (e.g. IRS 501c3 status letter) of your nonprofit status. Email us at nonprofits@basecamp.com and we’ll be glad to apply the discount.
Education discount
Are you a teacher or student at a K-12 school or University? Do you agree to use this Basecamp account only for classroom work? If you answered yes to both, you qualify. To claim your discount:
Teachers: Email us from your school account with the name of your school, the class you teach, and proof you're a teacher. We'll apply the discount after we verify everything.
Students: Email us from your school account with the name of your school, what you're studying, and when you expect to graduate. We'll apply the discount after we verify everything.
Tax exemption
If your organization is tax-exempt, please email us at suport@basecamp.com with your local or state documentation (a Sales and Use Tax Blanket Exemption Form, filled out for Basecamp, is ideal).
